District Profile
Longleng District, the Home of the Phom Nagas, is the tenth district of Nagaland, formed as a result of bifurcation of Tuensang District. It is bounded by Mon District in the East, Mokokchung District in the west, Sivasagar District (Assam) in the North and Tuensang District in the south. Longleng District is headquartered at Longleng Town (about 1,100m above sea level). Longleng and Tamlu are the major towns of the district. Most of the inhabitants belong to the Phom tribes.
How to Reach
The Place is easily reachable from the various popular points of Western Nagaland like Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung and Jorhat(Assam),Amguri(Assam) by shared taxi, bus and hired cars.
By Roadways :
There are three different major points from where one can reach Longleng headquarter/town.
From Dimapur:
The road distance from the commercial hub of Nagaland (Dimapur) to Longleng is 260 Kms via Golaghat, Mariani. There are a 2(Two) number of daily private buses plies between Dimapur and Longleng besides shared Taxi service. One can avail any of the above services to reach Longleng.The journey time is about 11 hours by bus and 9 hours by shared Taxi.
From Kohima :
One can avail N.S.T (Nagaland State Transport) bus from Kohima and the distance is about 232 Kms plying through NH-61 upto Chantongnya Town. After that there is State Road from Chantongnya Town to Longleng Town. For more convenience and faster travel, one can also avail the services of shared Taxi service which plies between Kohima and Mokokchung at 6.00Am and 12.00 noon everyday excepting Sundays. And then From Mokokchung to Longleng Which plies between Mokokchung and Longleng at 12.00 noon everyday except Sunday. The travel time is 11 hours by bus and 10 hours by Taxis.
From Mokokchung :
One can avail N.S.T (Nagaland State Transport) bus or Shared taxi service from Mokokchung which is about 72 Kms far from Longleng Town. The shared Taxi and Bus plies between Mokokchung and Longleng around 12.00 noon everyday except Sundays.

By Air:
One can either fly up to Dimapur(Nagaland) and take the services as explained above by Roadways to reach Longleng. Or anyone can fly up to Jorhat(Assam) or Dibrugarh(Assam) and take teh service of hired taxi to reach Longleng. The distance from Jorhat to Longleng is around 140 Kms via Amguri(Assam).
By Rail:
One can either Reach up to Dimapur(Nagaland) and take the services as explained above by Roadways to reach Longleng. Or anyone can reach up to Amguri/Mariani(Assam) and take the service of hired taxi to reach Longleng. The distance from Amguri to Longleng is around 100 Kms.
